Commitment

For us, tradition and family are a commitment to the future. As a producer of building materials, we see it as our duty to offer you products that are durable, ecological and produced without additives that are harmful to health. In order to fulfill this task, we have been manufacturing our products with limestone extracted from our quarry for more than 140 years. And we do this in a production facility where everyone from the employee to the managing director is highly conscious of quality and sustainability.

In order to not only promise you this quality, but also to assure you of it, we continuously test our products in our in-house laboratory and through independent certification bodies.

We do not use any harmful additives in our lime and lime-clay plasters and only use natural binders, which gives our products their unique properties.translator

Tradition

1881

The pharmacist Nikolaus Hessler founded the company “Hessler Kalkwerke GmbH” in 1881. Initially still at the Rot/Malsch site, the company's own natural hydraulic lime was used in a wide variety of buildings in the region. After the stone deposits ran out, production was relocated to Altwiesloch, where the current quarry site was acquired.

1940

In the mid-1940s, Dr. Fritz Gramespacher, the grandfather and great-grandfather of the current managing directors, took over a share of the company. In the following years, he took over the company completely from the founder's son and developed it into an important supplier for the building construction and civil engineering companies in the region.

1970

In 1970, the decision was made to produce dry mortar based on lime, cement and gypsum in addition to the natural hydraulic lime. Our HP 9 has been available as a pure lime plaster since the mid-1970s. In order to be able to continue as a small producer, production was geared towards the manufacture of pure lime plasters more than 20 years ago and a complete lime plaster system was developed around this basic lime plaster.

Today

Even today, exactly the same binding agent is used that has been extracted from the company's own quarry for 140 years: Natural hydraulic lime. Today's Hessler lime plaster system (HKS) was developed on this basis and now includes a wide variety of base and finishing plasters based on pure lime.
